Prioritized Routing and Burst Segmentation for QoS in Optical Burst-Switched Networks

چکیده
Deflection routing and burst segmentation are two techniques for resolving contention in optical burst-switched networks. By selectively applying these techniques to bursts with different QoS requirements, we can offer a range of differentiated services at the optical layer. c 2001 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (060.4250) Networks

Dynamic Routing of Reliability-Differentiated Connections in Optical Burst Switched Networks
Optical burst switching (OBS) is one of the most promising nextgeneration all-optical data transport paradigms. As networks become increasingly distributed and autonomic, Optical Burst Switching becomes the right choice for the next generation optical Internet. In this paper, we propose a mechanism for Dynamic Routing of Reliability-Differentiated connections (DRRDC) in Optical Burst Switched n...
متن کاملPrioritized burst segmentation and composite burst-assembly techniques for QoS support in optical burst-switched networks
In this paper, we address the issue of providing differentiated services to IP packets over an optical burst-switched network. QoS is supported by introducing prioritized contention resolution policies in the network core and a new burst assembly technique at the network edge. In the core, contention is resolved through prioritized burst segmentation and prioritized deflection. The burst segmen...
متن کاملPrioritized Deflection Routing in Optical Burst Switching Networks
Optical Burst Switching (OBS) aims to provide higher utilization and greater flexibility at a lower cost and reduced complexity than current optical circuit switched networks. We introduce a new routing protocol for Optical Burst Switching, Shortest Path Prioritized Random Deflection Routing (SP-PRDR), that aims to lower burst loss probabilities while only using limited state information from t...
متن کاملSurvivability of Wavelength-Routed Optical Burst-Switched Networks with Guaranteed IP Services
The paper discusses the problem of ensuring the QoS performance in wavelength-routed optical burst-switched (WR-OBS) networks under single link failures. The provision of IP services run over high-speed optical backbones should be resilient to faults in the network, hence the importance of WR-OBS survivabihty investigation. A failure-compensating scheduling residing in the WR-OBS control node, ...
متن کاملOn the deflection routing in QoS supported optical burst-switched networks
deflection routing is enabled, optical buffers are necessary to solve the insufficient offset time problem. Another solution, which can alleviate buffering, is to lengthen offset time in the beginning. As previous work indicated, a burst with extra offset time has higher priority than that without extra offset time and quality-of-service (QoS) can be accomplished in this way. Therefore, we inve...
